Carolina Cobras Release 2021 Schedule

GREENSBORO –  The Carolina Cobras are a professional arena football team in the National Arena League (NAL) and began play in 2018 and won their first league championship within that same year. Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, the Cobras play their home games at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex with current overall record of 22-11, entering their third season in the NAL as one of the most winniest teams in the league.

The 2021 schedule fits the May to August window with a postseason format that will result in two first-round playoff games, followed by the NAL championship game, scheduled August 13-15. The Cobras will begin the 2021 season on the road vs the Jersey Flight on Friday, May 28. The Flight joined along with the Albany Empire, formally of the Arena Football League, and the Ontario Bandits in Southern California as new expansion teams that are entering their first season in the NAL. The Cobras will then have a bye week before traveling to face the NAL defending Champion Jacksonville Sharks Saturday June 12th. The Cobras first home game will be against the Jersey Flight, Saturday, June 19th. The Cobras are projected to be one of the top teams in 2021, as they competed in the NAL Championship game the last 2 seasons while winning in 2018

The Cobras inaugural season finished with a regular season record of 10–5, taking second place in the league going into the postseason. The Cobras then defeated the Jacksonville Sharks in the playoff semifinal and earned the right to host the 2018 NAL Championship game at home. The Cobras would go on to dominate the Columbus Lions in the NAL Championship game 66–8.

In their second season, the Cobras again made it to the championship game, where they lost to the Sharks 52–48 in the final seconds of a heart-breaker. The defense played phenomenal in the championship which was led by Defensive Coordinator Josh Resignalo. Coach Resignalo took over as head coach in December 2019. Coach Resignalo will also serve as the Cobras Offensive Coordinator for the 2021 Season.

Josh Resignalo, known as “Coach Res” has called the Triad home for 10 plus years. Coach Res has also coached for many Triad HS teams and currently is the Offensive Coordinator for Andrews HS in High Point. Coach Resignalo has a beautiful wife of 17 yrs with two amazing children of 8 and 16yrs of age. We are proud to say that Coach Res is a Marine Corps Combat Vet, who served overseas in Iraq in 2013 and 2014.

We asked Coach Res about taking over as Head Coach and he had this to say; “I am beyond excited to lead this organization into its third season. It is an awesome experience to be a part of something this special where I call home. Having a lot of ties here has allowed me to bring home some local players to play with the Cobras. James Summers is back with the team and I was fortunate to get to coach James his junior year at Page HS. We also have offensive lineman Brandon Smith of East Forsyth HS, DL JT Surratt of Parkland HS, LB Pat Green of North Forsyth HS, WR Adam Smith of Davie County HS, WR BJ Bunn of Western Alamance HS, and DB Tyreik Able of Smith HS. 2021 is going to be an exciting year for the Cobras and expect all of the Triad to support your local players and team as we look to bring home the 2021 NAL Championship back to the Triad!”
