NAL Board of Advisors Votes to Increase Player Pay
The National Arena League announced today their Free Agent Signing Period has begun for the upcoming 2019 season. Additionally, players that finished the season on a NAL roster in 2018 are Exclusive Free Agents. This exclusive signing period allows these players to resign with their respective teams through Saturday, October 13, 2018, thus prohibiting other NAL teams from contacting them until after this date, when they too would become free agents.
“The 2019 season is under way and we couldn’t be more excited, stated Commissioner Chris Siegfried. Let the signings begin!”
Additionally, the NAL Board of Advisors voted to increase the player pay in 2019. In addition to increasing the base pay, the Board voted to add additional weekly bonuses to veteran players and another weekly loyalty bonus (for players that resign with their 2018 team for the 2019 season). The veteran bonus will be earned by NAL players who have played at least in 10 games in the 2018 NAL season. Additionally, players that played in other select league’s around the country will receive a partial vesting for their games played.
Siegfried continued, “It was important for us to be the second highest paying league in the country in regards to arena/indoor football. We are beginning the third season of the NAL. Our owners really took that to heart, stepped up and made this decision to move this League another step forward.”
The National Arena League looks forward to a busy offseason full of major new signings and re-signings to NAL rosters following a highly competitive 2018 season. The NAL is currently working on expansion that will include two key cities to join the NAL in 2019 to not only strengthen the league, but to provide more opportunities for players to showcase their talents in the premier league for arena football.
