NAL PLANS FOR ADDITIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS
JACKSONVILLE, FL – At a press conference today, the ownership group of the Jacksonville Sharks announced their intentions to join the newly formed National Arena League for play in the 2017 season.
The team has a long history of success within the world of arena football. Founded in 2009, the Sharks began their first season of play in the Arena Football League. In those seven seasons, they have made the playoffs six times, won four division titles, two conference titles, and won ArenaBowl XXIV in the 2011 season. The team plays their games on Sea Best Field inside the 12,000 seat Jacksonville Veteran’s Memorial Arena.
“We are proud to announce that the Jacksonville Sharks will be the seventh franchise to join for the inaugural year of the National Arena League,” stated Commissioner John Gregory. “The team not only brings a high level of competitiveness on the field, but a wealth of experience within their front office as well that will be an enormous benefit to all league members.”
The Sharks, owned by Jacksonville Sports Group, is headed by Operating Manager Jeff Bouchy. “It has been a long process, finding a new home,” stated Bouchy. “While we have thoroughly enjoyed our past seven seasons in the AFL, we are extremely excited about the future of the NAL. It could not be any brighter”
The Sharks, along with other NAL member teams, will begin the 2017 season in mid-March. Fans of the NAL and Jacksonville Sharks can visit their website at www.JaxSharks.com for upcoming announcements, team and league news, transactions and 2017 Shark Nation Membership information.
