Sharks All-Time Leading Receiver comes home
JACKSONVILLE- Jeron Harvey (6’4,220) signs with the Jacksonville Sharks for his eighth year of arena football and seventh with the Sharks. Harvey is the all-time team leader in receptions (495), yards (5495), and touchdowns (131).
Last year, Harvey signed with the Monterrey Steel for the playoffs against the Jacksonville Sharks. In that playoff game, he had four receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Also in 2017, Harvey signed with the Florida Tarpons of the former Arena Pro Football League. After taking a year off in 2016, Harvey entered his sixth consecutive season with the Jacksonville Sharks in 2015, catching 47 passes for 475 yards and four touchdowns. In 2014, Harvey had 82 receptions for 966 yards and 22 touchdowns. In 2013, Harvey was named Second Team All-Arena with the Jacksonville Sharks after recording 146 receptions for 1,593 yards and 35 touchdowns. During the 2012 season, Harvey was the second player in franchise history to record more than 100 catches in a single season. That season, Harvey had 101 catches for 970 yards and 25 touchdowns. In his second season with the Jacksonville Sharks in 2011, Harvey helped the Sharks win Arena Bowl XXIV by recording 90 receptions for 1,077 yards and 31 touchdowns. In Arena Bowl XXIV, Harvey caught the game-winning touchdown with no time on the clock after the play. During his rookie season with the Sharks Harvey caught 27 passes for 364 yards and 13 touchdowns. In 2008, Harvey signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent. During his time with the Jaguars, he attended rookie minicamp and remained with the Jaguars until he was released August 28, 2008.
Harvey started his college career at Dodge City Community College, where he was rated a Top 25 JUCO Wide Receiver. In one season with Dodge City, Harvey had 52 receptions for 14 touchdowns. Harvey later transferred to the University of Houston. During his time as a Cougar, he had a career total of 52 receptions and 14 touchdowns.
Harvey is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and played football at Andrew Jackson High School. With Andrew Jackson High School, Harvey had 20 catches for 400 yards and six touchdowns in his senior year. Harvey was named First Team All-Gateway Conference by helping his team go on an 11-1 record for the season.
