Former Team USA Lineman joins Maine for 2018
PORTLAND- Patrick Carne (6’2, 300) spent last season with the Salina Liberty of the CIF where he started five games at right guard allowing zero sacks and scored a touchdown for the Liberty. He also participated in the developmental 2017 NFL Spring League Showcase, where he was the starting Center for the East Team. In 2016, he played for the North Shore Generals of the AAA Professional Football League where he helped the team to a 10-3 record and earned Offensive Lineman MVP honors. During the same season, Carney played for the Port City Vipers of the New England Football League, where he started at right guard helping the team to a perfect 12-0 record, Carney was named an NEFL All-Star and appeared in the National Scouting Showcase in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where he started at right guard.
Carney spent three seasons with the Team USA All-American Eagles from 2013-2015. During his time on Team USA he was a starting guard playing in two Aztec Bowls and one All-American Bowl. In 2013, he played for the Middlesex County Warlords of the NEFL where he was a Co-Captain, NEFL All-Star, and Co-Offensive MVP. As the teams starting right guard and long snapper he played in every game for the Warlords. In 2014, he played in his second season with Middlesex County Warlords where he started in all games as a right tackle and long snapper. He helped the team win a NAC Division Championship and an appearance in the conference championship. In 2013, he split time on both sides of the ball for Team USA All-American Eagles, landing two tackles as a defensive lineman. Carney also played for the USA All-American Patriots in 2013 where he was the starting center for the Patriots in the 2013 Caribbean Bowl helping Team USA to a 68-6 victory over Costa Rica.
Carney began his pro career with the New England Hawks of the NEFL. During his time as a Hawk he started in 20 regular season games as an offensive lineman. Carney also spent time on the defensive line where he racked up 16 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble. Carney earned NEFL All-Star honors in both his seasons with the Hawks and was awarded Offensive Line MVP his rookie season.
Carney finished his college career at Ventura College in 2015, prior to his time as Ventura he played for Plymouth State University. Carney is a native of Maine and played high school football at Triton High School. During his high school career, he started all four years on both the offensive and defensive line. He earned two-time All-State honors.
