ATLANTA, GEORGIA – After a successful first season of play in 2017, the National Arena League is slated to kickoff their 2018 campaign this coming April. Returning franchises include the defending Champion Jacksonville Sharks, Columbus Lions, and the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. The additions of the Carolina Cobras (Greensboro, NC), Maine Mammoths (Portland, ME), and Massachusetts Pirates (Worcester, MA) round out the League teams.
With higher expectations and requirements set in League bylaws, League officials set out to expand in new markets, with ownership groups that reflected the league ideals. The 2017 League members, Monterrey Steel along with a previously announced franchise in Trenton, NJ (Jersey Flight) were unable to meet the league’s minimum obligations to be included on the 2018 NAL schedule.
“We are anticipating the release of the 2018 schedule this week” stated NAL Commissioner Chris Siegfried. It is going to be a wide open and competitive race to see who takes home the 2018 National Arena League Championship. The coaching experience level has sky-rocketed with the team’s off-season hires. This year it is anyone’s guess who will be holding up that trophy come next August.”
