JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive lineman/mac linebacker Bryson Kelly has joined the roster for the remainder of the season. This bolsters an already dominant pass rush that is second in the League with 32 sacks on the season.
Kelly (6’1, 260), enters his fourth year in arena football and first season with the Sharks. Prior to coming to Jacksonville, he spent time on the CFL’s Calgary Stampeders’ practice squad in 2016. Kelly also had a stint with the Portland Steel in 2016 where he totaled six tackles and a sack. During the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Kelly played for the Spokane Shock, where he combined for 24 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. Prior to his time is the CFL and AFL, Kelly was a popular NFL prospect that spent time on the practice squads of NFL’s Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Oakland Raiders, from 2011-2013.
Kelly played college football at Central Washington University during his junior and senior year as a running back, where he rushed for 1,387 yards on 299 carries with 11 touchdowns in 21 games. He was a first-team All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection in 2010. He spent his first two years of college at Santa Ana Junior College in Orange County, California.
Kelly is a native of San Diego, Ca but spent his high school career in Mukilteo, Wa where he played at Kamiak High School. During his time at Kamiak, he played running back where he totaled 89 carries for 522 yards and scored two touchdowns.
