JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks have announced today that they have signed quarterback Tyler Johnson.
Tyler Johnson (6’2”, 205) begins his first season in arena football. He completed his collegiate career at Alfred University in New York. In 2016, he earned D3football.com Second-Team Offense All-American, Offensive Player of the Year as well as All-East Region First Team Offense. Johnson’s currently holds the school’s record in total yards of offense (8,597), most career rushing touchdowns (41), single-season rushing touchdowns (18), and single-game passing yards (534). Prior to 2016, Johnson started 10 games for the Saxons in 2015 and 2014. During his first season with AU, he played in 11 games and earned the starting QB spot in the season’s third game. Prior to transferring to Alfred University, Johnson was redshirted his freshman year at American International College.
Johnson is a native of East Syracuse, New York, where he attended East Syracuse-Minoa High School and lead the team to the Class A Section III Champions in 2011 with a record 10-1 as their team caption. He was named the 2011 New York State Class A Player of the Year, earned First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-State.
