JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive backs Devin Ghafoor and Schon Thomas Jr. have been added to the roster for the 2017 season.
Devin Ghafoor (6’0”,180) rejoins the Jacksonville roster. Ghafoor attended the 2017 Sharks training camp and will enter his first season with the Jacksonville Sharks and his second season in arena football. He first broke into arena football with the Indoor Football League’s Cedar Rapids Titans. Ghafoor played in 11 regular season games in 2016 and had 40 tackles with three interceptions with the Titans under head coach Mark Stoute.
Ghafoor attended Slippery Rock University. During his senior year he appeared in all 12 regular season games and and had 37 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. Prior to his time at Slippery Rock, Ghafoor attended Edinboro University, he was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year and second team All-PSAC. In a surprising twist at Edinboro in 2012, Ghafoor suited up as a wide receiver and caught 20 passes for 276 yards with two TDs. He also had time to rock the offense with 31 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. He attended Perry Traditional Academy in Pennsylvania.
Sean Thomas (6’0”,185) is a Fort Myers, Florida native who played for Jacksonville University. During his time as a Dolphin he earn All-Pioneer honors his senior year and totaled 78 tackles, 20 pass breakups and three interceptions in his 41 games played. Following his time at JU, Thomas was invited to Rookie Mini-Camp with the Denver Broncos in 2014. Prior to his time at JU, Thomas played at Dunbar High School in Fort Myers where he played running back.
