NAL ANNOUNCES WEEK EIGHT PLAYERS OF THE WEEK- League Recognizes Offense, Defense, and Special Teams Highlights

national arena league

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The National Arena League is proud to announce the league’s recipients of the Week Eight Players of the Week. The league had three outstanding contests from this past weekend, and from those games the following winners for Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Players of the Week were selected:

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Undra Hendrix (FB, High Country Grizzlies)

Coming off a two-game losing streak, the High Country Grizzlies were looking to set the tone at home and get back to their winning ways. They put that burden on the backs of the league leader in rushing yards as Fullback Undra Hendrix carried the ball 19 times for 89 yards and three scores in a victory over the Georgia Firebirds. On the season, Hendrix has 228 rushing yards, is averaging 3.7 yards per carry, and has crossed the goal line nine times

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tim Hume (LB, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks)

Ever since a move from Defensive End to Linebacker the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks Tim Hume has been a menace to opposing offenses. In his last two games he has recorded five sacks. In the team’s 68-6 victory over the Dayton Wolfpack, Hume recorded 5 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, forced two fumbles, recovered another one, and notched two sacks. Hume and the Steelhawks head into a Bye week before facing the Grizzlies on May 20th.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nick Belcher (K, Jacksonville Sharks)

Belcher is becoming very familiar with winning league awards, as this is his third winning Special Teams Player of the Week this season. In the Sharks 71-6 victory over the Corpus Christi Rage, Belcher connected on 8 of 9 extra points. Belcher alone outscored his opponents in the game. Belcher leads the league in virtually every kicking category on the season

Week Nine in the NAL features only one game, with the other six teams getting much needed Bye’s. The Monterrey Steel travel a bit north to their closest playing partner as they take on the Corpus Christi Rage for the third time this season. The game is set for Monday night at 7pm local time.
