GAME PREVIEW: STEELHAWKS HOST THE PACK- Lehigh Valley Faces the Wolfpack for Second Time

flight plan week 8 vs wolfpack 5 6

Allentown, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are back on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center this week when they face the Dayton Wolfpack. The Saturday night game will kickoff at 7:00pm. The game is presented by Embassy Bank; and will be viewable locally on Service Electric/TV2 Sports.

The Steelhawks (5-1) played their best overall game last week in their record breaking win over the Corpus Christi Rage. The ’Hawks got touchdowns from every phase of the game on their way to scoring a franchise record 95 points. Linemen Tommy Dover (2 sacks, 2 tfl on 3.5 tackles, fumble recovery for touchdown) and Tim Hume (3 sacks, 3 tfl on 8 tackles) led the way up front defensively.

The offense was efficient on every drive, scoring every time they were in the redzone and completing all but one pass. With seven touchdown passes, QB Warren Smith Jr. (12 of 13, 172 yds) now has 34 passing touchdowns (leads the league) on the season, a franchise record. WR Darius Prince (6 catches for 105 yds) had four of those touchdown receptions (2nd most td receptions in the league).

Dayton (0-4) comes back to the Valley for the second time this season. After a rocky start to the season, the Wolfpack are an improved team. They narrowly lost to the Georgia Firebirds, 35-32, last week. QB Chris Brumfield (10 of 19 for 130 yds) threw three touchdown passes, two to Demarcus Sweat (3 catches for 53 yds). Defensively, the Wolfpack forced three fumbles. The backfield snagged an interception and broke up six passes.

Both teams are coming off one of their strongest performances the week prior. Lehigh Valley needs to stay sharp and play the way they have proved they can to continue building on the momentum of a four game home stand before going on the road.

The Steelhawks finish their regular season home games on Saturday, June 3rd on Embassy Bank Field inside the PPL Center, 7:00pm kickoff.
