ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The National Arena League is proud to announce the league’s recipients of the Week Four Players of the Week. After three stellar NAL Games this past weekend, the league selected the following winners for Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tommy Grady (QB, Jacksonville Sharks)
The Jacksonville Sharks signal caller, and one of the early candidates for League MVP, Tommy Grady is the league’s first two time winner of weekly honors. Leading his team on the road against the High Country Grizzlies, Grady raced his team out to a 41-0 halftime lead, and eventually capping off a 68-21 victory. Grady finished the game 10 of 14 for 217 yards and five touchdowns, hitting five different receivers in the process for the undefeated Sharks.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Roshawn Marshall (DB, Georgia Firebirds)
Needing to spark a team to its first win, it was the defensive unit that got the Firebirds into the win column against the Corpus Christi Rage. That charge was led by Marshall who was all over the stat sheet in the game. In the teams 76-26 win, Marshall picked off three passes, included 48 return yards off those interceptions, added a tackle, and a blocked kick. He looks to lead his team to back to back wins this weekend with a trip up north to face the 3-1 Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Spencer Hotaling (K, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks)
Offense and Defense might get all the accolades, but it can sometimes come down to Special Teams to add points to the board. This is especially true in Arena Football. In a game that came down to a game winning play with under ten seconds, Hotaling was able to put up 12 points on the board himself in the teams 60-54 victory against the Columbus Lions. The strong legged placekicker was 7-8 on extra points, connected on a deuce, and hit a clutch 46 yard field goal in the game.
Week Five NAL Action only has one matchup on the books as the Georgia Firebirds head north to face the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks inside the PPL Center on Saturday, April 15th for a 7pm EST Kickoff.
