Offense, Defense, and Special Teams Highlighted

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The National Arena League is proud to announce the league’s recipients of the Week Two Players of the Week. After an exciting star studded weekend of NAL action, the league selected the following winners for Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tommy Grady (QB, Jacksonville Sharks)

It’s no secret why the Jacksonville Sharks have started the NAL season with a 2-0 record. Led by the 6’7” Arena Football veteran behind center, the Sharks offense has been virtually unstoppable. In the team’s 55-26 victory at home versus the Georgia Firebirds, Grady was able to scan the pocket and hit four different receivers for touchdown scores. In all, the Sharks signal caller completed 12 of 19 passes for 161 yards and five touchdown passes.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Eddie Davis III (DB, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks)

Heading into the 2017 season, the Steelhawks defense had a few question marks with a youthful secondary. However, in his first two games as a professional Defensive Back Eddie Davis III has looked like a seasoned vet. He has recorded back to back three interception performances to start the season. In the teams come from behind victory over the High Country Grizzlies this past weekend, Davis III accounted for six tackles, and those three turnovers, none more important than his interception of reigning NAL Offensive Player of the Week Steve Panasuk in the endzone to preserve a tie game at the end of the first half of play.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Lindsey Wolfe (K, Columbus Lions)

Whoever said Kickers aren’t football players clearly has never watched an arena football game. Wolfe was responsible for 18 points for his team in their 85-18 victory over the Corpus Christi Rage. The strong footed Wolfe was 10-11 on extra points while also connecting on four DEUCES. The NAL rules allow for the kicking game to be an offensive weapon, and Wolfe is among the league leaders in all kicking categories.
